I started winning at around 16 years old, namely the Somerset Girls Championship and the South-West Girls Championship sometime during the 1970’s. I won the Somerset Ladies Championship 8 times between the years 1980 and 2007. In 1980 I was the youngest winner of the English Ladies Championship at Aldeburgh Golf Club in Suffolk which started me on the road to playing numerous times for England as an under 21 and full international.
I had various other victories between 1980 and 1984 winning a professional event at Walmley Golf Club, Birmingham in 1982 and playing in the victorious Great Britain & Ireland team versus the Continent of Europe at Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire in 1983 and then playing in the narrowly beaten Curtis Cup team at Muirfield, Scotland in 1984.
At Lansdown Golf Club, all the members and other members of local clubs and those as far afield as Cornwall are blessed to have this exceptional lady pass on her skills of the complex game of golf. As a successful winning pro on the Ladies European Tour, a Curtis Cup player and winner of the British Senior Amateur Ladies Open 2010, it is testimonial to this exceptional lady that she was involved in teaching during the 2014 British Open held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
Her communication skills are such that she puts you at ease to concentrate on the skills she passes on to you and is very constructive in a pleasant manner in improving your swing and golf game in general. I have a high handicap but Bev has put 15 – 20 yards on my game, but more importantly has put great pleasure back into my game giving me the satisfaction of looking forward to playing every time I play.
This lady takes great time in being involved with the Junior Section and the local schools which can only benefit the club over the future years. Peter Reeves (A happy golfer).
